Go Big or Go Dumb: rising star OMNOM delivers again and again
Few have experienced a meteoric rise to fame quite like OMNOM. Not much is known about the San Francisco resident. His social media pages have no personal info. There isn’t an OMNOM Wikipedia page. In fact, besides his picture, there is only one thing about the rising producer and DJ that isn’t shrouded in mystery – the incredibly intricate and detailed production that goes into each and every musical creation.
With several releases on House of Hustle compilations and a collaboration with Lucati, the stage was already set for OMNOM to leap onto the scene in a huge way. But nobody could have predicted the overwhelming success of ‘Fo Free,’ his breakout single on Dirtybird. After seeing it played out across Walker & Royce’s Self Help tour (including when they dropped the track at the inaugural Dirtybird Campout East during their B2B set with Claude VonStroke), OMNOM knew he had to go big with his next release. So big in fact that the EP had to be titled Goin’ Dumb. Featuring the title track with Fatt Mox and Lucati plus the fan favorite ‘Know I’m Bad,’ this release on House of Hustle blew expectations out of the water. Full of that authentic, psychedelic OMNOM vibe (including his distinct “chomping’ sound), the Goin’ Dumb EP may even be a step up from his Dirtybird release.
Fresh off huge performances at Electric Forest and Hard Summer in LA, OMNOM is already bringing the heat to the festival stage. He’s also scheduled to perform with Wyatt Marshall at Dirtybird Campout West so you can be sure he has some unrinsed tunes to try out in Austin. With an unrelenting live presence on the CDJs and tons of unreleased music from himself and the Dirtybird crew, this deep, techy, house driven weirdo is set to drop bombs at Seismic Dance Event on the 21st.
